Biografía
Rubén Darío Cano Arredondo was born on April 7, 1953 in Envigado (Antioquia, Colombia). He is the son of Don Marco Fidel Cano Tobón and Doña Rosario Arredondo de Cano (Maruja). He is the second eldest of a family of eight.
Rubén Darío Cano Arredondo nació el 7 de abril de 1953 en Envigado (Antioquia, Colombia). Es hijo de Don Marco Fidel Cano Tobón y Doña Rosario Arredondo de Cano (Maruja). Es el segundo de una familia de ocho hermanos.
At the age of four he won a Prismacolor National Children's Drawing Award presented by the renowned philosopher, writer and diplomat, “El brujo de Otra Parte” Fernando Gonzáles. His drawing was greatly admired as he not only displayed drawing skills but also showed conceptual understanding by drawing a heartfelt reaction to the killing of a bull in the arena de la Plaza de Toros la Macarena de Medellín: he drew the bull killing the Matador instead.
A los cuatro años ganó un premio nacional de dibujo infantil de Prismacolor, entregado por el renombrado filósofo, escritor y diplomático “El brujo de Otra Parte”, Fernando González. Su dibujo fue muy admirado porque no solo mostraba habilidades artísticas, sino también comprensión conceptual: dibujó al toro matando al torero en lugar de ser él la víctima, como reacción sentida al espectáculo de la Plaza de Toros La Macarena de Medellín.
This particular anecdote highlights his visionary expression, strong conviction and ability to succeed. He proceeded to take the bull by the horns throughout his life, which led him to master painting, sculpture and restoration of art, and to advocate for the historical and cultural heritage of humanity.
Esta anécdota resalta su expresión visionaria, fuerte convicción y capacidad de superación. A lo largo de su vida, tomó el toro por los cuernos, lo que lo llevó a dominar la pintura, la escultura y la restauración del arte, y a abogar por el patrimonio histórico y cultural de la humanidad.
Rubén Darío Cano A. is a renowned restorer. He has made artistic contributions through restorations and conservations of art, as well as exhibitions of his own paintings and sculptures in 24 countries. He is currently Ambassador of the UNESCO cultural branch of the United Nations Arts and Sciences (UNOTA), and he continues to actively restore historical monuments, churches, and a synagogue in New York City.
Rubén Darío Cano A. es un restaurador reconocido. Ha realizado importantes aportes artísticos mediante la restauración y conservación de obras de arte, así como exposiciones de sus propias pinturas y esculturas en 24 países. Actualmente es Embajador del ramo cultural de la UNESCO dentro de las Naciones Unidas de Artes y Ciencias (UNOTA), y continúa restaurando activamente monumentos históricos, iglesias y una sinagoga en la ciudad de Nueva York.
At the height of his career, Maestro Cano remembers all the exhibitions, restorations, art conferences, and commissions in which he has participated. He continues his artistic mission with faith in God and love for his four children and ten grandchildren.
En la cúspide de su carrera, el Maestro Cano recuerda todas las exposiciones, restauraciones, conferencias de arte y encargos en los que ha participado. Continúa su misión artística con fe en Dios y amor por sus cuatro hijos y diez nietos.
